Winnipeg Waterfront Competition
The project was about revitalization of a warehouse district in central Canada. This project would be a catalyst for future development in an otherwise challenging areas of the Red River waterfront. Dilapidated boarded up building are the main vocabulary of the area so the challenge was to create a transition and connection between the downtown core and the eastside exchange districts of Winnipeg.
The central integral component of the project was to create a river walk green belt in a hard urban landscape, a transition edge that would provide the opportunity to provide a continuous corridor to adjacent public markets and serve as the focus point for public centers such as a mixed use site consisting of commercial, residential and institutional satellites.
